SOLD - $3.1 Million for Rare Honus Wagner Baseball CardRUNNEMEDE, NEW JERSEY - WPXI News reports (video), a "jumbo" T206 Honus Wagner card has sold at Goldin Auctions for $3.1 million (auction link). The sale set a record price for a trading card. The card was produced by the American Tobacco Company from 1909 to 1911 as part of its T206 series. Reportedly, Wagner protested its production because he did not want children to buy cigarette packs to get the card. Production ceased, and less than 200 cards were distributed to the public.
