Quick Research Shortcut

When researching valuable items, select the Tools or Lists available on the MAP for your category of interest to access auction archives, marketplaces, appraisal archives, and other databases. When available, sort results to place the highest reported prices or values first.

This can quickly surface the most valuable relevant examples without requiring you to scan hundreds or thousands of lower-value results.

How to use it:

  1. Enter broad, relevant search keywords.

  2. Select sold results, auction results, or appraisal/value records when available.

  3. Choose Price: Highest First, Highest Value, or the closest available sorting option.

  4. Review the top results for relevant matches.

  5. Check what each number represents before comparing it — for example, a completed sale price, hammer price, price realized, auction estimate, or appraisal value.

Important:

Sorting highest first is a discovery shortcut, not a valuation method. High results may involve exceptional rarity, condition, provenance, or other factors. Use additional research and comparable results before estimating an item's likely value.
